Ernie Carrillo

Ernie joined the Marshal’s Department in 1982 and became a San Diego County Sheriff’s Deputy in 2000 when the two organizations merged. As Deputy, Ernie currently works Patrol in Imperial Beach and previously served in the courts with the Marshal’s Department.

Ernie has been a member of the board of directors for the DSA since 2001. He is the chair of the Meet & Confer and Political Action committees, co-chairs the Membership Committee and is a member of the Legal Defense Plan. Ernie has served as president of the Latino Peace Officer’s Association for two years and was vice president of the Marshal’s Association. Because of his commitment to the community, Ernie spearheaded the 2003 Annual Deputy Sheriffs’ Association Holiday Food Drive to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of Imperial Beach.

Ernie was born and raised in San Diego and has a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice administration from San Diego State University. He has been married for 22 years and has two children.
